The New Motorcycle Practical Test |
How it will affect new riders in the Aberystwyth area?At the start of May 2009 the new practical motorcycle test came into force all persons wishing to take the practical motorcycle test must Complete a CBT. (Compulsory Basic Training) For your practical test you will need you to complete your Theory test. Your module one test will be an off road tarmac section at a MPTC (Multi Purpose Test Centre). Having passed your module one you can then apply for your Module two test. This will be a road ride in and around Aberystwyth. For the module one section of your practical motorcycle test you will be required to carry out a set of manoeuvres very much as you did for your CBT. This will be done at one of the DSA's new MPTC. Aberystwyth Motorcycle Training Centre has elected to use Bangor MPTC as there is less chance of being held up on route with the subsequent loss of your test. The new off road program can be simulated, in part, at the training centre. The on road test, Module two, will be conducted in Aberystwyth as before, however, new test routes have been prepared by the DSA. The ride to Bangor will be in excess of ninety miles and will take approximately two and a half to three hours there and then the same for the return journey. Bikes and students can be transported to Bangor should students elect not to undertake the long ride. Aberystwyth Motorcycle Training Centre will continue to give the same high standard of training.
This new test makes no allowances for any person taking their motorcycle test on either a big bike via direct access or taking an A1, A2 or moped test. We are still searching for a part one test site in Aberystwyth and doing all we can to provide one if anyone knows of an area which may be suitable please let me or your local council know |
